I can’t see Apple releasing any model of iPod with interchangeable cards, even if doing so would enable extensive and versatile storage. It just doesn’t seem to mesh with the sleek, self-contained image that we’ve all come to associate with the iPod. Possibly a more robust system of management through iTunes, but nothing that we would physically manipulate. It’s just not stylish enough.

People tend to overestimate short-term progress (and underestimate long-term progress), I think you’re doing that here as well.
