Little riddle: if you have two dice (so each has 6 sides), with 1 digit on each side and you want to be able to form all numbers between 1 and 31 (for the days of the month), what digits would be on each dice? E.g. if dice #1 has 0-1-2-3-4-5 and the second 4-5-6-7-8-9, it won’t work, because you cannot form the number ‘22′.
Try to guess and I’ll give the answer next week. There’s a little trick involved! I first tried to figure it out without looking at the dice, and I enjoyed the mind gymnastics.
This is a song I like to play when I’m DJing, it makes people smile: “Porque Te Vas” by Jeanette (Dimech).
I got reminded of this song by a newsletter of the Beursschouwburg, they’re doing a “Porque Te Vas” contest where people can bring new versions of this classic. Inscription before Oct 10th, and the event is held on Oct 24th, with hosts STIJN and Pieter De Buysser, the jury consists of Maria Tarantino and Stijn Meuris.
Hoy en mi ventana brilla el sol
Y el corazon
Se pone triste contemplando la ciudad
Porque te vas

“Wie niet waagt, blijft maagd”, as they say over here. This guy promises to ask his spam buddies to stop comment-spamming, als long as you put a link to his site. A while ago, he used to promise only “If you dont like advertising comments please send me an email with your site address to tedirectory(at)yahoo(dot)com and I will not write on your site” (cf yahooinsiders), but now he seems to have expanded his influence. He is spamming several of my websites continuously. The source seems to be some people over at Global Net Access, Atlanta (via spam.tinyweb.net).
Which makes me dream of ‘Big Spammer’, a TV-show where known spammers are followed by a hidden camera for a couple of weeks (’see how he has been wearing the same shorts for a whole week now’) after which they are sued, convicted and dragged to jail, while all their computers are crushed by a huge truck. Mmmm, revenge …
I am always on the lookout for original ways to use RSS feeds, and the Grazr widget service is quite neat for text-based feeds. It consists of a Flash-based reader with a neat interface. Here an example for OverheardInNewYork:
And they pointed me to SimplePie, a simple replacement for MagPieRSS, the PHP-based RSS library I always used. Another thing to check out!
Ok, she’s not Kate Moss, and he’s not Inspector Morse, but you get the general idea. If you father a child once you’re past 70 years old, the kid’s gonna have bags under the eyes.
On a totally unrelated note: thanks for all the nice emails, SMSes, IM’s and other Facebook pokes I received for my 38th birthday. If I didn’t reply immediately: I had a wonderful weekend with the woman I love. I can only hope the rest of the year will continue on the same elan.
