Mixwit: Music for sad days

This is a nice concept: make you own online mixtape with Mixwit. The music comes from other people’s MP3 files found through Seeqpod, and not all of those are still online, but it’s easy to check and the result is worth it.

Herlancering: Zo helpt poezie

Soms groeit een hobby-project uit zijn voegen en moet je op een moment beslissen het de plaats te geven die het verdient. Mijn gedichten bloemlezing site “Zo helpt poezie” is uitgegroeid tot een populaire stek, en vanaf nu heeft die zijn eigen domeinnaam, zoals een echte grote jongen:

Wat is er veranderd?

  • de site draait op de laatste Wordpress 2.3.3, met als theme K2 RC 4
  • de site wordt nu gehost by Openminds (beetje per beetje komen al mijn sites daar terecht)
  • zelfs de dot-com werkt: www.zohelptpoezie.com
  • bij elk gedicht worden, via de tags, ‘verwante’ gedichten voorgesteld
  • de header foto is een recente tango foto van mij
  • alle links van de vroegere URL worden mooi doorgestuurd
    (voor de kenners: een mooie 301 permanent redirect voor Google)

De kenners weten dit allicht, maar de titel van de site is gebaseerd op “Poëzie” van Herman De Coninck.

Brudio Stussel: 't Hof van Commerce Studio Brussel wordt 25 jaar en viert dat met een week ‘alles op zijn kop’. Ze lanceren “Brudio Stussel” van 25 maart tot 1 april met een geweldige campagne van de Mortierbrigade. Bruno Vanden Broecke speelt een Tien-om-te-zien producer die probeert de ruwe kantjes af te schaven van ‘t Hof van Commerce (“Zeg ekji oe loatist“) en Belgian Asociality (“Da’k et morgen ga doen“). Heerlijk!

Photography workflow with Picasa & Flickr

I’ve been thinking about writing this for a while, but I always thought everyone would probably work in the same way. But then I got introduced to iPhoto, which I consider a sh*tty piece of software, so apparently not everyone is as spoilt as us PC users. So here it goes: how do I process all the pictures I take, easily a thousand per month?

Step 1: the camera

As you might know, I’m a Canonista, I use a EOS 350D digital SLR. I’ve got two CompactFlash cards of 1GB, of which I use the second one only rarely. I don’t take my photos in RAW format, I use the highest JPEG resolution: 3456 x 2304 pixels or 8 megapixels. On a 1GB card I can get between 250 and 300 pictures.

Step 2: import into Picasa
